Using a special puzzle glue

The best option is to use a special puzzle glue. In addition, they usually carry a small sponge to facilitate the work of applying the glue.

To stick a puzzle with glue follow these steps:

  • Start in the middle of the puzzle and work your way to the edges, covering the entire surface.
  • Use a small brush or sponge to spread evenly.
  • Check that the edges of the end pieces are covered by the glue.
  • Let it dry for the time indicated by the adhesive glue brand, which is usually between 2 and 4 hours.
  • If you have exceeded the amount of glue, use a putty knife or similar tool to remove what may be left over.

Using carpenter's glue

It is another simple and cheap technique:

  • First of all, mix the glue with a little water to reduce the thickness.
  • Flip the puzzle over, as this type of adhesive is applied to the back of the puzzle.
  • Extend the carpenter's glue, from the middle to the sides, carefully.
  • With a damp cloth you can clean the excess glue.

Using self-adhesive paper

We will use transparent adhesive sheets, special for puzzles.

  • As with the previous technique, you also have to flip the puzzle.
  • Remove the protection cover.
  • Place it on the back of the puzzle, covering the entire surface of it.
  • With a rigid sheet, press well on all areas to remove air bubbles. And so, the puzzle will be stuck with self-adhesive paper.

Some tips for framing a puzzle

Once you have all the pieces attached, you can manipulate the puzzle, but gently. You will only have to place it in the frame that you have bought to the size of the puzzle.

How to frame a puzzle

Of course, it is very important to choose a suitable frame to frame the puzzle. This ensures that over the years your great work remains as colorful as the first day.

Depending on the size of the puzzle it is advisable to use one molding or another. If it is small, you can let yourself be guided by your taste since any molding will technically be fine. But if it is large, you will have to take into account the width of the molding, since if it is very narrow you run the risk that, due to its own weight, the frame arches and falls forward.

If you want a narrow frame for a large puzzle, choose an aluminum frame, because they are more rigid than wood and handle the weight better.

In addition, the support or back of the frame for the puzzle is also very important. We recommend foam, it will protect it in the future from deterioration due to humidity.

We hope that these tips have been useful if you are going to glue and frame a puzzle to decorate your home.
